Thing 1 & Thing 2 {The Party}

I love my September babies and wouldn't trade them (or their birth-dates) for anything in this entire world...but having two parties in two weeks last year was too much for this mama! So we decided to do one party this year, and it turned out perfect! They may be totally against the idea next year, but I think doing one party is the way to go for as long as they will allow it:).
I decided to go with a Dr. Seuss theme for several reasons. (1) I love all things Seuss. (2) My kids and I all love books. (3) I have always loved the idea of having a "Thing 1 and Thing 2". (4) I was afraid that if I didn't do it this year, one or both of them would protest it next year.
We planned the party for 11AM, because we weren't sure when Alabama would play but we knew it would be after lunch (I know, I know...but honestly, it's just easier to plan around the game than to get irritated when certain people don't show up...like their daddy...totally kidding...sort of;).
All of the foods were "Seuss themed", and I got these cute little food labels off of Etsy. Most everything I did was Pinterest inspired. The kids colored the Cat in the Hat, "painted" cookies, and had a green egg hunt. They all seemed to have a great time, so I'd say it was a success! :)
A big thanks to Nana, MawMaw &
Aunt Amy for helping with the food!
Coloring pictures while waiting on the party to start...
Painting Cookies - I debated whether or not to do this
because I knew it would be a big mess. I'm so glad I went
with it...the kids LOVED it! E said it was her favorite:)
Luke was more interested in eating his cookie
and watching the others than actually painting.
Jaxon LOVED it...he and Bryce
painted cookies until the very end!
At the very end, Luke decided he would give it a try.
Coloring the Cat
Most of the kids after the green egg hunt...
Aaliyah found the prize egg:)
Happy Birthday to you!
And you!
Playing...
And presents...
At the end of the day E sent some balloons to Heaven (and it
warms my heart that she thinks of those who can't be with us:).
Thanks to everyone who came to help celebrate
the most precious gifts I have ever received!

It's my (first) party...

E and I carried cupcakes and cheese puffs (which were much more popular than the cupcakes) to Mrs. Elizabeth's today for Luke's birthday. I can't believe my tiny baby boy will be 2 on Sunday!

Happy 5th, Emma Catherine!

Emma Catherine, you are five years old today!

(Pizza & Cupcakes at FACS)
Five years ago my life was turned upside down by an 8lb. 2oz. baby girl. You have brought me more joy (and tears) than I could ever have imagined before I was blessed by you. A few things about you at this age...

  • You are as strong willed as they come! And you're smart...I have this feeling it will be a dangerous combination as you get older.
  • You are so incredibly smart, and you literally soak up knowledge like a sponge. You question and analyze everything (I have no idea where you got that from ;).
  • You also have a memory that is amazing. You will remind me of things I said months and months ago.
  • You have a heart for the Lord, and you praise Him constantly. You do have a lot of questions, and your Daddy and I do our very best to answer them in terms you can understand without scaring you. That is hard sometimes. Heaven is a big topic right now. You understand that it's the coolest place ever, and you definitely want to go there someday...but you always tell us you don't want to go without us.
  • You are a girly-girl and a tomboy all in one...a perfect combination! You went dove hunting with your daddy last weekend, but of course wore a bow:).
  • You are the best sister in the world...and Luke tells you so!!
  • I am so blessed by you. God loaned me a most precious gift on September 18, 2007, and I can only pray that I do right by Him. You are one amazing kid, and I can't wait to see what God has in store for the next year!
(Supper at Mexico)
Flowers from Cheyenne...
American Girl Doll from Maz...

Stats and other info...
  • You weigh 45lbs. and are 45 inches tall.
  • You are not a picky eater...the only thing you don't eat is eggs.
  • You are FINALLY a good sleeper! You usually go to bed around 8PM. We wake you up around 6:30 on school days, and you wake up between 7:30 and 8:30 on weekends (of course, you are usually up later too).
  • You still NEED a nap, although you disagree. A 1.5-2 hour nap makes a world of difference in our evenings! On the days you lay down but don't go to sleep, you are less than easy to get along with before bedtime. :)

My best girl and me:)
Ready for bed on her first night as a 5 year old:)
Happy Birthday E!

Birthdays & Birds

I adore these photos...kids hanging onto other kids and more
kids trying to run away. They give me a giggle every time:).
After the party I dropped my baby girl off at the dove field.
She brought me home a lovely prize...
She makes her daddy (and me;) proud!
