Pensacola Beach {Part 1}

We started off our beach trip on Friday with a trip to Publix for
groceries and other necessities. Nana sent the kids some money
with strict instructions that it was to be spent on sunglasses.

While we were at Publix, MawMaw and Poppa Dale showed up
to spend the weekend with us. Of course, as soon as we got back
to the condo we headed straight to the beach and pool (where
MawMaw and Poppa were trying to teach E how to dive).
All tuckered out:)
Yesterday was more of the same, followed by another nap!
Before supper I tried to get a pic of the kids and the grandparents,
but taking my camera from the cold room to the humid outdoors
caused fog. By the time I got that corrected, the kids were no
longer interested. Oh well...that's life with kiddos and cameras!
We headed to Peg Leg Pete's to eat, and then we went
our separate ways...us with the boy and them with the girl.
The boy got to feed fish at the marina...

...the girl came home with two pet crabs (Hermie and Shelley:).
This morning MawMaw cooked us a big breakfast before
they went back home. We spent the rest of the day hanging
out by the pool and beach. We skipped naps, ordered pizza,
and headed to bed early. We are looking forward to a few
days by ourselves before Nana and Papa get here Wednesday!

God Winks

Yesterday morning I got up early and ran around like a mad woman all day long...cleaning house and packing bags! Justin said that if I had everything ready by 4:30PM (time to take E to her tumbling class) that we could leave for the beach when her class was over.

At 6:55PM we were leaving McDonald's in CC headed for Pensacola Beach:)! I had a little over a half tank of gas, so we figured we could make it to the condo. Our GPS said our arrival time would be 11PM. We had a very smooth trip, and we were almost there when Justin "happened" to notice a sign above the upcoming bridge that read "Check Fuel, Long Bridge Ahead...5 Miles". At that moment he looked down and realized our gas light was on...and we had no clue how long it had been on.

He proceeded to press the "miles until empty" button, which read "5". There was no place to pull over, and if we were to have run out of gas we would likely have wrecked. Justin and I were discussing our dilemma/panic when E began asking 436 questions. I told her to stop talking and pray. Y'all...my baby girl prayed for 5 long miles. Justin and I silently prayed for those same 5 miles. I kept asking God to please just get us off that bridge. I didn't mind walking to get gas, but I didn't want to wreck.

We made it over the bridge, only to find that the first service station we came to was closed. At this point we were all frantically looking for a station that was open, when we finally spotted one. As we rolled to the pump the "miles until empty" read "0". Our 20 gallon tank took 20.021 gallons of gas.

Wordless Wednesday

Diggin' Taters

Last night we went to MawMaw's to dig in the dirt. We ended up with a few potatoes two wheelbarrows full plus some, so if you need some potatoes I know just the place;).

"Look, Mom--no cavities!"

We went to Dr. Norby's today to have the kids' teeth cleaned. This was Luke's first trip to the dentist, and he did fabulous! He did want me to go back with him (they like for parents to stay in the waiting room if possible), but when he got in that chair he never moved a muscle. E has been probably five or six times, but this was the first time she went back all by herself. My babies are growing up!
After we left we had to run into the mall for a minute. When we
got back to the car I told Luke that I needed to take him to the
potty when we got to Publix (our next stop). I got him out of the
stroller and proceeded to put it up when I felt a "mist". I looked up
and he had his pants pulled down and was peeing in the parking
lot. The guys across from us were dying laughing. He's all boy...
When we got finished grocery shopping it had come a monsoon
rain. I was pleasantly surprised when the employees were offering
to sit with people's groceries (and kids:) while they pulled their
vehicles up front. Underneath an umbrella, they loaded my kids
and my groceries, and do you know that they have a no tipping
policy? Now that, my friends, is customer service! I looked like
a wet rat, but my kids were as dry as a bone thanks to Publix!

Summer Nights

Tonight the kids went to Poppa and MawMaw's to pick beans, and then we went to "rinse off" in Uncle Greg and Aunt Robin's pool. I love summer nights!

The "Wake" {and Birthdays}

Yesterday the kids went to Nana's after swimming lessons. They have been beside themselves to go to "the wake" (as Luke calls it:).
Today we were invited to two birthday parties and a baby shower. Since Daddy went to school to work on a research paper we had to skip the baby shower in lieu of naptime, but the kids had a BLAST at the parties. The picture is from Jaxon's party. There are no pics from Cole's party. It was a swimming party, and I was too busy keeping an eye on the girl and catching the boy...he must have dove from the diving board no less that 25 times. The boys loves water!

Swimming Lessons

E has been taking swimming lessons this week, so Luke and I have been going to the park to walk (well, I walk...he strolls;).

He was trying to tell me that he lost a tooth and the
"berry" was coming to see him...he's a mess I tell ya!
I like to French braid E's hair when she swims so that it doesn't
get all tangled up. Well...Faith's mom does fish tail braids so E has
been wanting one. Thanks to YouTube, I think I've finally got it!
Of course, I left my phone in the car on today, when E swam all the
way to the deep end, got out, jumped back in, went to the bottom,
and swam back up ("with nothing but goggles" in her words:). I'm
so proud of her, and I will definitely be getting some video soon!

Mrs. Lolli

I got a text from Mrs. Lolli today with this picture. She found it on her phone and hadn't sent it to me. She went on to say to be sure to tell Emma hello and that she loved her bunches. Emma told me a few weeks ago that she would just go stay with Mrs. Lolli and Pastor Keith while I worked this summer. This is one woman who sure has made a big impression on a little girl's life!

Pneumonia

You know who gets pneumonia in the summer? And who never lets a little (or big) sickness get him down? This guy...

(Note the boots...on the wrong feet...and shorts:)
So...we've been on breathing treatments every 4 hours
around the clock. You know who is a champ and never even
wakes up during his middle of the night treatments? This guy...
(And in case you're wondering...I plan to keep him in his crib until
he goes to kindergarten...or climbs out...whichever comes first:)

BBC VBS

This week we had VBS at our church. We strayed away from Lifeway's version this year and went with God's Big Backyard. It was awesome!! The lessons were all centered around serving God by serving family, friends, neighbors, and community. The best part is that E has really worked harder on serving family because she makes the connection that she is also serving God!
