Luke: 7 Months

Luke, you are seven months old!

Here's what you're up to these days...
  • You weigh 19lbs. 6oz. (up 12lbs. since birth, but no weight gain since last month), and you are 28 inches long (up 8 inches since birth and 1 inch since last month).
  • You are wearing mostly 6-9 month clothes, but a few of your 3-6 month things still fit. You're wearing size 3 diapers.
(It is getting much harder to take your picture on the changing table...or anywhere for that matter...
without some sort of distraction. You want your hands on something at all times:)
  • You have gotten yourself on a "grown-up boy" type schedule. You wake up around 6:30/7ish, eat a 2nd Foods fruit for breakfast around 8AM, take a 7oz. bottle an hour or so later, eat a 1st Foods vegetable with a tablespoon of rice cereal for lunch, take a 7oz. bottle around 1:30/2, eat a 1st Foods vegetable with a tablespoon of rice cereal and a 1st Foods fruit for supper, and take your third and final 7oz. bottle around 6/6:30. You go to bed around 7PM. You catnap in the morning and take a long nap (2+ hours) in the afternoon.
  • You have been sick again, and Mommy hates it! We are currently doing breathing treatments every 4 hours during the day and 6 hours at night. Since we aren't sure if you have an allergy that is causing the wheezing, Dr. Ray gave us a list of common allergies that he wants us to stay away from. Milk, green beans, and wheat were the only things on the list that you consume, so we have changed you to soy formula and taken you off of green beans and crackers. We have an appointment with the allergy/asthma doctor on May 25. I'm praying that it is something easily fixed. I know that God holds you in His hands, and He will take care of you.
(The distraction train again!)
(Give it back!)
(Fine then...I'll just cry! FYI - He got it back;)
  • You went to see the other Dr. Ray during Spring Break. You definitely have eczema, and she gave us some special cream to use in addition to vigorous moisturizing instructions. She also changed our laundry detergent. We go for a re-check on May 9.
  • You still have just the two bottom teeth, and let me just tell you they are SHARP! :)
  • You have mastered sitting up on your own, and you love to sit in the floor or in your bed and play with your toys. When she's in the mood, Sissy likes to join you...and you love it! I love it too...it does a mama's heart good to see her babies playing together. :)
  • You also love to sit up in the tub...
  • You LOVE the walker Avery Claire let us borrow...and you really love the freedom it allows you! You love to go into E's "play area" and rummage around. Surprisingly enough, she doesn't mind! :)
You bring such joy to my life, and I am so
glad God chose me to be your Mommy! :)

We Are Alabama!

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!
I have overcome the world. John 16:33

I woke up this morning in the comfort of my home, knowing that my babies were tucked safely in their beds. Many Alabamians can't say the same after yesterday's devastating tornadoes. My heart is heavy for those suffering so close to my home, and I am so thankful that God spared my family. Please be in prayer for our great state, and if it's in your means to help...be it physical donations, monetary donations, or powerful prayers...please do so today!

Freely you have received; freely give! Matthew 10:8

We, like many others in Alabama, got the kids out of bed and
headed to our safe place (the basement) as the weather worsened.

Sick Days

I had to take off yesterday to take Luke Man back to the doctor. He woke up Friday morning with a cough, and we immediately started breathing treatments. We did them throughout the weekend. He didn't get worse, but he wasn't getting any better. Dr. Ray was concerned about his wheezing, so we are back to doing treatments every 4 hours. He also added a "controller" to the treatment once a day. It is suppose to help prevent the wheezing. Say a prayer for our little guy!

I had to take another sick day today to be at home with Luke. For those who have forgotten, I am a few sick days shy of a load...I'm actually "borrowing" next month's day. As much as I would LOVE to stay at home with my sweet baby every day (especially when he's sick), let's hope I don't have to be out again...that would put me starting next year "in the hole".

He sure is a happy little guy, even if he is sick! :)

Tumbling Monday

Emma's last tumbling class of the year was tonight. I was able to
go with her and watch. Here are a few pics of the gymnast herself!

Easter Sunday

Up from the grave He arose,
With a mighty triumph o’er His foes,
He arose a Victor from the dark domain,
And He lives forever, with His saints to reign.
He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Easter morning didn't go exactly as planned...but let's face it,
when you have kids you may as well just forgo the planning altogether. :)

Emma woke up before sunrise with the announcement that she had thrown up in her bed...and slept in it! "Yuck" seems to be an appropriate word to insert here. We did a quick clean up before checking to see if "the bunny" had made a stop at our house. Surprise, surprise...he didn't forget us! ;)

After all the excitement we didn't make it to sunrise service, but E seemed fine
so we got all dressed up and headed on to regular worship service.
Our attempt at a family picture...
The egg hunt...
The lighting isn't great, but I am in love with this picture!

Fun Saturday!

Today was filled with lots of Easter fun! We started off
the day by going to the city egg hunt. The kids had a blast!
Easter Hat Making
Jewelry Making
Pony Ride
The JV cheerleaders were there selling shirts, and they
performed their dance. Afterwards the girls showed
the little ones a few things. Emma was taking it all in!
When we got home the kids were worn out. After a breathing treatment
(Luke has started his coughing again) they both took a long nap.
Then we headed to Nana's to color eggs. Emma is such a big girl,
and she colored the eggs all by herself. She even put "Es" on them! :)
Maz played with Luke during all the egg-coloring excitement.
E stopped for a quick picture with her brother and great-grandmother.
We read the true Easter story before bed. E put out
the Easter baskets, and they both fell fast asleep! :)
