We left Wednesday after lunch and headed to the beach. Roughly five hours later we had already been grocery shopping and made it to our room just in time for pizza delivery! We ate quickly and headed to the pool. Thursday we ate breakfast and headed to the beach, where we stayed until 3:00PM with NOT A SINGLE COMPLAINT. Friday was more of the same, but after lunch we went to Foley to shop and eat at the Original Oyster house (yum!). Y'all. I had forgotten what "vacation" was actually like. This was seriously the best one we've had in nearly 7 years. We spent some time at the beach this morning and headed back home this afternoon, where our bags are unpacked and we're ready to face the real world again. And ready to go back if this is what vacations are like with almost 7 and 4-year-olds. :)
This was also the first time in 7 years I've actually
been able to RIDE go-carts! Luke and I beat them. ;)
The church had planned a trip to Pine Mountain, GA to the Wild Animal Safari, but E had other plans...going to the farmer's market to sell tomatoes with her MawMaw and Poppa. She begged and begged, and I figured if a 6-year-old would rather work than go to the zoo I'd better let her. So Luke and I had a mother/son day. I always enjoy spending one-on-one time with my babies, because you really get to focus on that one little personality...which is often different when they're by themselves. Anyway, here are some pics from our fun day...
Today marks 31 years since I made my debut here on earth. The years have flown by for me, so I would imagine that my mother feels like she blinked and she had grandkids. Isn't that how it goes though? No matter how hard you try, you can't really appreciate the "here and now". We're always looking onto the next best thing. I'm so guilty. Right this moment, I'm wishing the next 6 months away so we can be moved into our new home. Justin keeps reminding me that we've talked about, saved, and planned for this for years and a few more months won't kill me. And I know he's right. I'm blaming it on human nature.
Anyway, here I am. 31 today. Not feeling any older than I did yesterday. But it has crossed my mind several times that I am now closer to 40 than I am 20. But I hear that 40 is the new 30, so 30 must be the new 20...right? Which makes me 21? Ok...I'm rambling. I know. But it's my birthday, and I can do that.
We kicked off the 4th by going to Summer Sizzle and watching the fireworks on Thursday night. On Friday we spent the day at the lake, and we went to the annual Yarbrough reunion on Saturday morning. We ended our weekend at the rodeo on Saturday night!
"And I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me."
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33
