ATL

Today we headed to Atlanta to visit with my Daddy and my Aunt Robin. Daddy (and E:) surprised me with a cake for my upcoming 2-9. No worries...the firemen were able to put out the fire without injury.
This is the best I could do...sorry, Kyle. It seems as though
I cut your head off:/. We really did have the best time visiting.
I only wish they lived closer so we could do it more often;).
Peyton was the ring bearer in our wedding!
The kids were worn out and crashed quickly on the way home...

Luke: 21 Months

Luke, you are twenty-one months old!
Here's what you're up to these days...
  • You weigh about 28 1/2lbs.
  • You are 34 inches long.
  • You are wearing mostly 24 month and 2T clothes and size 6 diaper. It's getting snug, so you better start using the potty soon...the next size is Depends:/
  • Your summer sleep schedule is one to be envied...you go to sleep around 8PM and wake up around 9AM. :)
  • You have also been taking 2-3 hour naps!
  • You still eat most anything, but you want to feed it to yourself. Since I'm a tad on the OCD side I struggle with this, because I like to prevent spills and such.
  • You play well independently and with E. However, you are starting to go through the "mine" stage where you don't want your toys taken from you. I am proud to say that you still don't mind others playing with your toys as long as you aren't playing with them...this month anyway;).
  • You are still a little dare devil, and I'm afraid that's not going to change.
  • You are also very much a Mama's boy, much to Daddy's dismay.
  • You still love to play outside, and you do LOVE hanging out with Daddy as long as cows, trucks, and tractors are involved.
  • You LOVE your sister like crazy! It is the sweetest thing ever. If she stays the night at Nana's you go straight to her room in the morning looking for her. A few weeks ago you went to Mrs. Elizabeth's and she didn't go. Mrs. Liz said that you acted out of sorts all day, and she thought it must have been because E wasn't there since you were fine that afternoon and the next day.
  • You are still hanging in there with 16 teeth, but I keep thinking those 2 year molars are going to come through any day.
  • You have taken a huge disliking to the potty this month:/ I have decided to just go with the flow though, because I don't want to push you and then have you regress. Seriously, though, you are already in the biggest size diaper they make so you've got to either stop growing (joke:) or start wanting to use the potty again.
  • You are my sunshine! Happy 21 months baby boy!

Two for One

Two stories.

One sweet girl.

Last night I heard a cough coming from the girl's room around 10PM. Then I heard a cry, so I ran in there to find throw up everywhere. The joys of motherhood:). I think something just settled on her stomach wrong, because she never ran a fever or threw up again. But she did earn a night in my bed. When she got settled she asked me to bring "the orange blanket". I've had the blanket my whole life (and that is evident by the many large holes in it). When I was a little girl I would sleep with it every night...it was my "security blanket" of sorts. If we're being completely honest here I slept with the thing until I got married. It's tattered and torn, but it does my heart good to see it comforting my baby girl.
Tonight we went to a 31 party at Ashley's house where E got a little flowered notebook and pen from Mrs. Christy. She decided to sleep with them instead of her baby tonight.

The Library

Today we took a "field trip" to the city library. We weren't kicked out, so I'd say it was pretty successful. We'll have to work on the whole "being quiet in the library thing" though. :)

R.I.P.

A word of caution...this post contains vain comments. I realize I am blessed beyond measure, but I'm human and that entitles me to a little vanity on occasion. :)

Y'all...

I'm going to be 30 next year.

30!

How did that happen? Wasn't it just yesterday I was counting down the YEARS until 1999, so I could drive.

And of course, what kid doesn't dream of that cool car. Not saying that my first car was cool, because oh, it wasn't. But it was mine, and since gas was only $0.90 a gallon I could do a lot of "riding around" for a mere 10 bucks!

Honestly, though, the thoughts of turning 30 hadn't bothered me in the least until a few weeks ago.

If you know me you know I've always wanted a 3rd baby. Justin has been on the wire about it, and I had decided that if he truly didn't want another one then I was perfectly content with the two miracles God has blessed us with.

Anyway, I have also been wanting a bigger vehicle (anybody see what I'm getting at yet?). Something of the Suburban nature...

Well, Justin said no. And he's the boss.

He said we absolutely, positively would not be purchasing a vehicle that gets WORSE gas mileage than my Pathfinder. So, that was that.

But that hankering for another baby got me looking and thinking. I actually drove to Birmingham while he was in CA to look at a used van (OMG...did I really just type that?). That night I couldn't sleep. I kid you not...I tossed and turned the entire night (and possibly broke out into a cold sweat) at the thoughts of ME...in a VAN.

So when he came home from CA I calmly announced that I no longer wanted a baby #3. But we decided to LOOK at bigger vehicles anyway. Before we left the house we agreed that we absolutely would not be purchasing anything...ONLY looking.

We stopped at the Toyota place first...where  Justin promptly parked the Pathfinder next to a Sienna and asked the guy if we could look at it. He got in the driver's seat, took one spin around the parking lot, and announced his LOVE for the VAN. It was at this point that I began questioning our last 6.5 years of marriage. Who is this man?

We left the Toyota place and headed over to the Honda place where we found basically the same thing for a lot less dough. Justin was hooked...and like I said...he's the boss. He was wheeling and dealing while my youth was buried...right there in the Honda dealership.

So this morning we took our last ride in the Pathfinder...

And drove home in this...

The only thing missing is the family on the back glass:)

I have come up with a coping mechanism...while you see the picture above, in my mind I'm driving my old Maxima...my B.K. (before kids) car.

Surely I'll get a baby #3 out of this deal;)

VBS Weekend 2012

VBS started Thursday night, and Emma's class topped out at
23 kids (bless you Meaghan:)!! I am worn out from teaching
a class of my own, but it is so worth it to see the smile on my
girl's face and the words of Jesus coming out of her mouth!
Daddy came by to pick up Luke...I swear this man has no shame:)
Friday night...Kayla is one brave girl!
Anna found the trick to keeping Luke still...ice!
And when he did run off his little mamas were there to catch him:)
After VBS Megan and Logan braved having BOTH of these girls
over for the night (plus Clay). They had a blast, and I've heard all
about how they painted nails, rode the boat, and played Candyland.
Saturday was more of the same...
Anna had to wring the water out of his shirt from where
he kept pouring it on himself (and laughing, of course).
After VBS and a nap we headed to Jaxon's 3rd
birthday party, where Luke had to love on Blair:)
Sunday morning the kids led the song service...
If you don't watch any other video I post, you should
take the time to watch this one...my wild man in action:).
 Just chillin' after "the fall"...
Sunday night was Family Night...
Any week where kids are being drawn closer to the Lord
is a good week in my book, and this one was no different!!

The Days of Summer

We haven't had any major plans thus far for the summer.
Monday was PawPaw Gwen's birthday so we stopped by
for a visit and surprised him and MawMaw with milkshakes.
We've visited Daddy at the barn...
Spent many hours at the parks of CC...
E even went to work with Daddy on sale day!!
E has been playing with Luke's old
carseat, so he's been checking it out...
...and the kids got to help MawMaw and Poppa Dale silk corn:)
We do have a few beach trips scheduled, but
we are mostly just enjoying the days of summer!

Daddy's Gone to Disney World

Just kidding:)

Really, he's just been on a trip to California. However, Emma has told everyone we know that her Daddy has been at Disney World.

Remember a few weeks ago when my aunt sent all the Disney stuff? Well, E knows that she lives in California and works for Disney and lives near Disneyland...so in her mind since Daddy was going to CA he must be going to Disneyland.

I can assure you, though, that if he had been going anywhere near LA it would have been a family trip. However, since he is a farmer this trip wasn't all that glamorous (to me anyway:). He went to the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship Contest in Turlock, CA (near San Jose).

Obviously, this left us solo once again...and if you remember his last trip I was a bit nervous. However, we had so much going on that E didn't really have much time to be sad. She was such a big girl...back to her usual self (praise the Lord!).

The girl wanted to show off her skills before Daddy left for CA:)
Then we went to a church cookout before seeing him off...
Daddy's first night at Disneyland;)
Mrs. Brittney invited E to VBS at her church this
week, so Friday night we went to Family Night.
Yesterday we went to Mr. Z.R. and Mrs. Brenda's
house to pick blueberries (among other things:).
We also had VBS kickoff:)
Daddy flew in just in time for Father's Day supper with his faves:)
