Luke: 9 Months

Luke, you are nine months old!

Thirty-eight wonderful weeks have passed since I gave
birth to the most precious baby boy EVER! (That's just
two weeks and five days short of the time we were "as one";)

Here's what you're up to these days...
  • You weigh 21lbs. 12oz. (up 14lbs. 6oz. since birth and 1lb. since last month), and you are 29.5 inches long (up 9.5 inches since birth and none since last month...last month's length was approximate, this month's is official:).
  • You are wearing 6-9 and 9-12 month clothes. You're still wearing size 3 diapers, but when these run out you're movin' on up! :)
Notice the bed...we went ahead and lowered it to the bottom to save
ourselves the hassle in a few months. You're growing up too fast! :(
  • You love being at home with Mama (and I LOVE it too:). We have established a nice little summer routine (you'll soon figure out that your Mama loves nothing more than a schedule;)...
      • 7ish- Wake Up...play in bed until around 7:30.
      • 7:30 - Breakfast (Baby Food & Bottle)
      • 9:00-10:00 (give or take a few) - Morning Nap
      • 11:30 - Lunch (Baby Food & Bottle...Bath?)
      • 1:00-3:00 (give or take a few) - Afternoon Nap
      • 3:30ish - Snack (Baby Yogurt or "Smoothies" & Puffs)
      • 5:30ish - Supper (Baby Food & Bottle...Bath?)
      • 6:30ish - Clean Up, PJs, Breathing Treatment
      • 7ish - Bedtime
    • You were taking 8oz. bottles each time, but apparently your appetite has decreased. You have almost cut your milk intake in half! Most of the time I can barely get you to take a 4oz. bottle...but Dr. Ray says that solids are the most important right now and 16-24oz. of milk a day is plenty. You are leaning toward the 16oz. side these days.
    • Sometimes you take a bath after lunch and sometimes after supper...just depends on the day! :)
    • On the glorious occasions where you sleep until 8/8:30 you eat when you get up, and we omit the morning nap and extend the afternoon nap to 4ish! :)
  • In between times you play until your heart's content. You love for Mommy and/or Sissy to play with you, but you also love to play independently.
  • You are still eating all of the baby foods, plus you are trying out a few table foods. You have eaten fresh sweet and white potatoes, cauliflower, green peas, cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches, pears, bananas, cinnamon rolls (E's fave), and garlic cheese rolls from Red Lobster (you are your father's child:)!
  • You are still holding your own bottle, but as I feared you ARE NOT interested in a cup (besides as a play toy). I have to remind myself that you will not do things at the same rate as E did, and I really am okay with that. We'll wait another month and try again!
(You love to read:)
  • You are mobile!
Sometimes you tuck that leg under and scoot...
...and sometimes you get on all fours and CRAWL!
  • You have started clapping, and it really is the sweetest thing.
  • You have also started lifting one arm up as if to say "bye-bye" to people.
This is the best I could do...
  • You have 5 teeth and are cutting a 6th!
  • You are still jabbering away...dadadadada! One day...:)
  • You have been back to the doctor this week...another coughing spell. Tuesday I took you for an upper GI, and you absolutely refused to drink the barium. You would rather have starved! You didn't cry or anything, but when you "said" no, you meant NO! Therefore, the test was basically a flop. It didn't rule acid reflux in or out. Since this particular problem with reflux runs deep in your roots we decided to treat you for reflux and remove the Singulair. We go back in a few weeks to see if it's working, and then we will reevaluate the situation.
  • You give the biggest smiles that make people's days (especially mine)...and you are absolutely the best baby (strangers say so all the time:). I love watching you grow, and I'm so blessed to be your mama! :)

Holdin' Down the Fort {and other adventures}

Last Wednesday Justin headed to South Carolina, leaving the babes and me to hold down the fort. We had a pretty uneventful week (just the way we like it).

I told E she could sleep with me while Daddy was gone...
it's too bad the rest of the night she slept UNDER me, ha!
We had to send Daddy a "Good Morning" picture!
On Saturday we were up and at the church by 8AM (you may applaud:)! We went to Pine Mountain, GA to the Wild Animal Safari. If you don't mind be slobbered on by giraffes and other wild animals you should go! :)
This guy pecked E's hand!
E's favorite...the slobbering giraffe! :)
Even Luke Man had a blast!
After some major hand washing and a few bites of
pizza this little zookeeper needed some ice cream!
Needless to say both kids were exhausted
and slept the entire way home (hallelujah!).
We drove straight to Jaxon's 2nd birthday party...time flies!
It seems like yesterday Lane was turning 2!
Actually, it seems like yesterday that we were in high school!

We got home, and Daddy wasn't far behind...bearing gifts, of course!
I have no pics, but we were all thrilled to have him home! :)

After naptime Sunday we went to Cole's 2nd birthday party, where
E was thrilled to play with these (and a few furry bunnies too)...
Today we headed back to Dr. Ray's...Luke started coughing a little over the weekend and coughed most of the night last night. If I have learned anything about my sweet boy it's that his coughs don't just "get better".

I honestly believe that I have the happiest baby in
the world...this is the smile we get no matter what!
Justin has pulled double duty today...he took E to work with him so I wouldn't have to juggle them both in the doctor's office. I've done it a million times (almost no exaggeration, ha!), but I never decline an offer of daddy-care! Luke has to go for an upper GI in the morning, and his sweet daddy offered to take Sissy to work with him AGAIN! Say a prayer that we finally get some answers so that we can keep this boy well!

Maz & Dr. B.

We spent the day with Maz...she had a doctor's appointment, and then we went to lunch and did a little shopping!
The kids got to visit with Dr. Ballard (she delivered them both) and take her some pictures. Emma was way more excited than she looks...her new shoes rubbed a raw spot on her toe and she was playing the "pitiful me" card. No worries...Dr. B. and Nurse Teri fixed her right up. Teri put a "tiny bandaid" on her toe (and if you don't have small children, you can't fully appreciate the value of a bandaid. It's sort of like duct tape...it can fix anything.).
Then they gave her free rein of the TV...
which was immediately changed to Barney.
Luke was very impressed with Dr. B.
I think she was pretty fond of him too!
Before we left Emma told Dr. Ballard and Teri that she wanted
Mommy to have another baby brother and then a sister. Dr. B.
said she was ready...I told her we would have to work on Daddy!

Quack, Quack & A New Do

We went to the park...
to feed the ducks (and a few geese)...
and kill some time...
in between the bank (hence the new shades)...
and a trip to the beauty shop! :)

Happy Father's Day!

First, I'd like to wish our dads a Happy Father's Day! Thank you for being there for us, and thank you for loving our babies. We love you! :)
Emma and Luke wanted to wish their daddy a very special Happy Father's Day! They REALLY wanted to take a picture together to commemorate his first Father's Day as a daddy of two...
If that doesn't make you want AT LEAST one
more baby (maybe two;), I don't know what will!

Happy Father's Day, Justin! We love you! =)
