{Almost} Wordless Wednesday

{She insisted that I fix her hair like this after school. And then
  asked me if I thought she looked beautiful. Yes, I said yes;).}

Happy Birthday Papa! {A Day Late}

Yesterday was Papa's birthday, but this has been a ka-ray-zee weekend so we didn't celebrate until tonight. She spent the night with them Friday night, so he did get to hear this sweet girl sing "Happy Birthday" before he had to go to work yesterday morning. And would you just check out those glasses!! Nana took the lenses out of her old frames and E thinks she's something else. :)
After Sunday School, church, a baby shower, a youth meeting,
church again, and a business meeting we finally made it to  Papa's
birthday supper. We hope you enjoyed our company, Papa;)!
 Happy Birthday!

Can I get a Roll Tide?

Tonight the Tide played (and won) their
third National Championship in four years.
Four in a row for the state of Alabama...
Seven in a row for the SEC (and four of those
seven teams being coached by Nick Saban)...
Final Score: 42-14
And possibly my favorite part of the night:
Brian Kelly (as he's headed into the locker room at the half and
asked where the fixes need to come from): "Maybe Alabama
doesn't come back in the second half. It's all Alabama."

Just one more day...

On Friday I went back to work, but work (in my business) is not work at all when there are no kids there. So, tomorrow's the day. And, y'all, it will be just as hard getting up in the morning and getting to work on time (which is now earlier than it used to be) as it is after being "off" in the summer.

I can't wait to hear all the fun stories my kiddos have to tell, and I'm excited to get big hugs and find out what Santa brought. But I could definitely use just one more day...

We went skating on Saturday with the church. It took E a little bit to get warmed up, but she did pretty good and had fun (except for the time she spent on her "beer-end";). I'm no fool, so I did not put on shoes with wheels;).
After church today we decided to delay nap
time in favor of a little outdoor family time.
We got early baths and took it easy this evening.
 And let's not forget...
 Just one more day...RTR!

Growing Up

This morning when Justin left for work he promised the kids he would come back and pick them up in a little bit and they could check on cows with him...like he usually does. When he got here to pick them up Luke was running around screaming, "Me go with Daddy!!" E, who usually cries when he leaves, decided that she would just stay home and hang out with mama. Justin tried to talk her into going, but she didn't change her mind.

A few minutes after they left I got this text:

"Can't believe my girl wanted to stay with you. I've heard about this happening but I'm not ready for it."

She's growing up on us. As I type I am watching her practice cartwheels and jumps on her new tumbling mat, because according to her, "Mama, if I want to be like those cheerleaders I have to practice."

I don't think she will ever outgrow being a daddy's girl, but the times of our baby girl falling asleep in your lap like she did last night may become fewer and far between. You better enjoy it while you can;)!

Happy New Year!

2013 started off rainy here in Alabama, but that didn't stop
us from tracking to MawMaw's for fried hog jowl, blackeyed
peas, turnip and collard greens, and Mexican cornbread.

Against all my southern roots, I swept the floor yesterday. I just
couldn't stand it:/. And I may or may not have sent the hubby
downstairs to swap out a load of laundry because he knows no
better. So far it hasn't ruined my year. Considering the fact that my
house is in decent shape, the laundry is pretty much caught up, I
haven't worn a drop of makeup this year, and we are still in our pjs
(or robe and diaper respectively;), I'd actually say my year is off to
a good start. Maybe the remainder isn't completely tainted:).
Happy New Year!!
