A little over 7 years ago when the nurse practitioner announced that it was without a doubt a girl, I never could have dreamed what was to come. The 8lb. 2oz. black haired baby girl that I gave birth to on a hot and humid afternoon in September has turned out to be my right arm. She's smart. She's pretty. She's funny. She's compassionate. She has a heart of gold, a strong head on her shoulders, and I honestly don't know what I'd do without her. She's my go-to girl and our home is full (and efficient;) in large part because of her. I love you to the moon and back Emma Catherine!
Last night as a 6 year old...
The Birthday Girl
At her request, we celebrated "7" at Partners with the family.
Papa ordered crab claws (her favorite) and I made a cookie
cake with a "number 7 candle" (again, her request). Happy
Birthday, baby girl! I hope it was as special as you are!
In celebration of Grandparents' Day, our AMAZING counselor planned special grandparents' lunches for each grade in our school with the theme "Grandparents Are Groovy". She outdid herself, and Emma enjoyed having her faves for lunch! ;)
When we were at the new house this afternoon he told me, in his most serious voice, "Give me 6 more minutes (as he held up six fingers), I'm digging for treasure."
My 3-year-old is smarter than your congressman (or woman;):
Exhibit A: A few weeks ago we were at Walmart, where I had an overflowing buggy. In 3-year-old fashion, Luke was asking for everything we wheeled past. After telling him no several times he wanted to know why not.
Me: "I don't have any money."
Luke: "Well then how are you going to pay for all that stuff? You can't buy stuff if you don't have money."
Exhibit B: This morning we were getting ready for school when Luke told me he couldn't wait to tell Sean and Austin that he had $22. I asked him where he got $22, and he told me he got it from his daddy.
Me: "I wish daddy would give me $22."
Luke: "Where would you put it?"
Me: "I'd put it in my wallet."
Luke: "You can't save money in your wallet. You spend money in your wallet. You save money in your pig-uh bank."
Today was the opening day of dove season in Alabama, so after watching the Alabama game (on the SEC Network as opposed to pay-per-view where it would have been last year:) they headed out. About 30 minutes later Justin called me to come get Luke. He let him out on the back side of our land and he walked down to where our new house is. When he got to me he told me, "Mama, it's hot and Daddy won't let me shoot so just take me home!" E lasted the entire day, and according to her daddy was a great help...toting dead birds. :/
We spent Labor Day weekend doing pretty much the exact opposite of labor. Aside from watching football, going to church, and cleaning up after ourselves we've pretty much been lazy. And I'm not complaining a bit. In fact, I'm wondering who to talk to about instating Labor Day every Monday.
These two "Rocked the 80s" in support of the Vols on Friday.
Saturday was Gameday!!!!
Sweet Karli brought this guy home for us for
the weekend, and the kiddos were very sad when
they headed back to Tuscaloosa Sunday morning.
And last night we celebrated MawMaw's birthday:)
Now we are counting down until the next 3-day
weekend and trying to decide what to eat for supper
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33
