Luke: 22 Months

Luke, you are twenty-two months old!
(And you're ready for some football:)
Here's what you're up to these days...
  • You weigh 29lbs. 6oz.
  • You are 34.5 inches long.
  • You are wearing 24 month and 2T clothes and size 6 diaper.
  • You basically sleep 12-13 hours at night and 2-3 hours during the day. During the summer months you have been going to bed between 8 and 9 and sleeping until somewhere between 8 and 9:30 each morning. Since I have to go back to work soon we will be adjusting your bedtime this month.
  • You have started to realize that bathtime means bedtime and you will fuss when we head that way. When we go to your room you say, "Mommy, pay?" (*play)
  • You're eating great when you want to eat, and when you don't want to eat you snub your nose at it.
  • You love to be outside, and you have started spending much more time with your daddy when he's around. If you see him leaving you want to go with him!
  • You are so easygoing and just the best baby/toddler. We went to the beach over the 4th and you were great on the ride there and back. You slept perfectly at naptime and bedtime! It is so nice to know that you adjust so easily.
  • You still have just the 16 teeth.
  • You are a tad more interested in the potty this month. I'm not going to stress over it. The fact that you could be my last baby (unless we can get your daddy back on board for you to be a big brother;) has me stressed enough. I'm just going to enjoy you being little, even if I have to change diapers for a while longer.
  • You are a mess little boy, and I love it!!! Happy 22 months!

Every new beginning...

...comes from some other beginning's end.

Today was E's last day at Mrs. Elizabeth's.

And I'm not even going to lie.

I cried all the way to work.

Just like I did the first day I ever dropped her off.

My sweet girl is growing way too fast, and it is all becoming so real. I honestly don't think I will be anywhere near this sad when she goes to Kindergarten, because she will be with me.

Elizabeth has been there for nearly all of Emma's firsts. She has taught her so much over the last 4 years, and she has been such a huge part of her life. Words cannot express the appreciation I have for that woman!!

We wanted to do a little something to let her know how much we love her...
I know it seems so simple, but when you really think about it
reading and writing go hand in hand and they open up all other
doors in life. That's pretty powerful...and I think the person who
teaches a child to read and write has given them an amazing
opportunity. We thought she could use this as a message board:).
On our way to daycare...
Mrs. Liz gave Emma a lunchbox filled with snacks she loves,
the book "The Night Before Preschool", and this poem...
You better believe I shed several tears over this...

Catch Up

We have spent many hours at the park this summer:)

E constructed this at church a few weeks ago:)
I have spent many hours working...
I have had big help some of those hours:)
I love these two peas in a pod:)
Moms took me to lunch for my birthday...
We went on a date:)
The boy has decided that shirts are expendable, but hats are not...
I had "the virus" over the weekend (and thought I was
dying), then Monday E laid like this from 5:30-8PM.
Thankfully she was just getting her beauty rest since she
skipped her nap that day, and she wasn't actually sick!
This boy thinks he's grown...
He had a cow on his shirt and thought it was the grandest thing...
The kids LOVE the barn...
Sadly, summer is slipping away. But I'm choosing to be positive.
As summer slips by the most wonderful time of year is getting
closer...I can already taste the rotel dip in my mouth! =)

Sometimes...

things in life don't go as planned. (No, I'm not pregnant:)

I planned for E to stay at Mrs. Liz's until kindergarten. But I also planned for all of her buddies to be there with her. So when we found out Ensleigh was going to be leaving to make room for her baby sister, Emma was heartbroken. And although we would LOVE to have room for all of them at Mrs. Elizabeth's that just isn't the case.

Her daddy and I agreed (after much prayer) that we wanted E to continue to be around kids her age, so we filled out the paperwork for FACS Preschool. Knowing there were no spots open we decided if God wanted our baby girl there He would see to it that she was there, and if He didn't she would continue to be loved and cared for at Mrs. Elizabeth's.

I never received a phone call, but got an email about orientation. I thought it was a little strange, so I gave them a call. The sweet lady told me that she sent us an email because she just felt like it was going to work out. I don't know if a mouse (or cat;) put in a good word for our girl, but we are trusting that this is God's plan for her.

I'm a little lot sad about the rate at which my baby is growing, but she is excited about this new adventure and that makes my heart happy.

29

Today I turned the big 2-9! Aside from the fact that I now drive a minivan it wasn't bad...just a regular sort of day (and I like regular:). The kids and I hung out, went to the park, they took long naps, and went to Mama's for homemade shrimp pasta and cheesecake (my favorites:). Justin even left work early so he could join us!!
The girl stayed the night with Nana, and the boy snoozed in
her bed for a while so I could do some things in his room:).

R&R

The Yarbrough Reunion was yesterday...
This is nowhere near all the kids...just the early birds:) You can only
imagine what a picture attempt with all of them would look like...
And what reunion is complete without an
all day singing on the church grounds, ha!
Notice MawMaw's hand hanging onto Luke Man...
The boy had all the fun he could stand...
Last night we headed to the rodeo...
ate snow cones...
paid $$$ to ride a pony when we have a
pasture full of them that we never ride;)...
and flew high in the sky!
Tomorrow is the big 2-9...hoping for a low key day:)!
